Built like a Margarita except with a base of smoky mezcal and herbaceous Benedictine in place of tequila and Cointreau.

Ingredients

2 oz mezcal (or Sotol even better)

2 oz fresh lime juice

1 oz Benedictine Liquore

1 oz Basil simple syrup

2 dashes of Angostura bitters

oz 1x

60 mlmezcal (or Sotol even better)

60 mlfresh lime juice

30 ml Benedictine Liquore

30 ml Basil simple syrup

2 dashes of Angostura bitters

ml 1x

250 ml Mezcal (or Sotol)

250 ml Fresh lime juice

125 ml Benedictine Liqueur

125 ml Basil simple syrup

8 dashes of Angostura bitters

ml batch

Directions

Place all ingredients and ice into cocktail shake; shake and strain into a double rocks glass with fresh ice. garnish with basil leaf.

Note: You can substitute plane simple syrup with basil simple syrup. You can also use Dolin Genepi or other apline liquore in place of Benedictine.
